Last week, on May 14, students and teachers of the Department of Environmental Protection of PNRPU took part in an excursion to the municipal solid waste landfill and the EcoPark “Bumatika” located in the village of Mishkino, Krasnokamsky District of the Perm Territory. Future environmentalists saw what a properly organized MSW landfill looks like, and what procedures should the utilizable waste fractions undergo to be transformed into a final product.
The participants of the excursion looked at how waste is sorted, which fractions are separated from the stream of mixed household waste, how ecologically safe insulation called ecowool is obtained from old newspapers, and how plastic bottles are recycled. The students saw what the pavement tile produced in EcoPark, which includes recycled plastic, looks like, and found out what products are obtained from used automobile tires by their thermal utilization in a pyrolysis furnace.
The Department of Environmental Protection of PNRPU is grateful to Bumatika LLC for being long-standing partners of the Department and our international conference. We also express great appreciation for organizing and conducting the excursion personally to Anastasia Proshina, PR Director of Bumatika Company, and Sergey Chudinov, Director.
