On June 4 – 5, 2019, employees of the Department of Environmental Protection of the Perm National Research Polytechnic University took part in the International Conference “Ways of development of the waste management industry as part of the Ecology National Project” at the exhibition-forum WasteTech-2019.
More than 200 organizations from Russia, near and far abroad were represented at the conference. The conference participants included representatives of the Federation Council and the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Federal Antimonopoly Service of the Russian Federation, regional operators dealing with MSW, private and investment companies, scientific and public organizations.
The conference was held at a high professional level. Topical issues of waste management were discussed: the improvement of the regulatory framework and the implementation of the waste management industry reform. The problems of creating infrastructure for collecting, transporting, sorting and disposing of waste, introducing the principles of circular economy, providing services for waste management by regional operators and their interaction with government authorities, small and medium-sized businesses were analyzed.
In the framework of the exhibition-forum WasteTek-2019, the representatives of the Department of Environmental Protection of PNRPU together with the IWWG Russia and NIS Regional Branch held a session on digital technologies in waste management. Within the session the introduction of smart waste collection technologies, the use of automated and robotic waste sorting complexes, the use of satellite imagery data and data from unmanned aerial vehicles for monitoring waste disposal facilities, the use of software systems and mobile applications in the field of waste management were discussed.
