From September 30 to October 4, 2019, teachers of the Department of Environmental Protection of PNRPU took part in Sardinia_2019 — XVII International Symposium on Waste Management and Landfill, organized by IWWG.
Within the framework of the Sardinia_2019 symposium, two oral reports were made by the lecturers of the Department of Environmental Protection of PNRPU — leaders of the IWWG Regional Branch for Russia and NIS (IWWG-RUNISRB). Associate Professor Natalia Sliusar made a presentation on the topic “Application of unmanned aerial vehicles for solid waste landfill management” in the Landfill Characterization and Monitoring session. Senior Lecturer Anna Tsybina made a report on the topic “Assessment of the potential of reducing environmental impact at different scenarios for sewage sludge treatment” in the Sewage Sludge session.
The Sardinian Symposium is one of the world's largest forums on waste management and related topics. This year 675 people took part in the symposium, including researchers, engineers, representatives of the business community. At a five-day symposium, the results of 583 scientific papers were presented. Eight parallel sections were held every day at the symposium; in total, the symposium program included 90 regular sessions, 38 workshops and poster sections.
