Workshops in the framework of an International Research Group project

17 december 2019

     On December 2–3, a series of workshops was held in PNRPU by European scientists as part of the implementation of a scientific project by an international research group of scientists. The title of the project is “Development of a geo-information platform for remote environmental monitoring at the sites of accumulated environmental damage”.

     The series of workshops included lectures on the following topics:

  • “Environmental policy of the European Union”,
  • “Sustainable landfilling”,
Lecturer — Dr. Marko Ritzkowski, Managing Director of IWWG, Hamburg Technical University (Hamburg, Germany)
  •  “Monitoring of greenhouse gas emissions from biological waste treatment. Basics, chamber methods for measuring GHG emissions. Innovative tracer and laser methods",
Lecturer — Prof. Dr. Marion Huber-Humer, Board Member of IWWG, University of Natural Resources and Applied Sciences (Vienna, Austria);
  • “MSW processing before disposal. Fundamentals of composting. Rotting systems",
Lecturer — Erwin Binner, University of Natural Resources and Applied Sciences (Vienna, Austria).

     The workshops were attended by undergraduate and graduate students of the Department of Environmental Protection of PNRPU, teachers of the department, students of other departments of the university, as well as some participants of the IV International Scientific Conference “From Waste Management to Resource Recovery”, which was held a few days later in PNRPU. The conference was traditionally organized by the Department of Environmental Protection of PNRPU and IWWG-RUNISRB.

     The lectures were well received by the audience. Despite the complexity of the topics under discussion, the speakers were asked many questions. Next year, we are again awaiting the visits of our European colleagues, who will again share their unique experience with students and teachers of the Perm Polytechnic.
